If you're strapped for cash or simply don't want to install Microsoft software on your Mac, OpenOffice for Mac is an excellent, if slightly imperfect alternative. The numerous settings and buttons that come with it can also be a little overwhelming too and it would be nice to see it made a little simpler and streamlined in future releases. Is it possible to download an older version of OpenOffice compatible with OS 10.4.
I can't use it on my Power Mac G5 (OS 10.4.11 PPC) because the current version is Intel only. All installation files of the latest legacy release are available at Download Legacy . I have the current OpenOffice 3.4.1 on my laptop (Mac OS 10.6.8). Prior to that date the project was mainly driven by Sun Microsystems and Oracle. This has certainly been improved in the latest releases but its still a sluggish old thing compared to Microsoft Office. Apache OpenOffice became an incubator project on June 01, 2011.

I have recently updated my Mac OS to Monterey (v12.0.1) and right after the OS upgrade, all of my O365 office app (Word, Excel, PPT and Outlook) has stopped working and I'm not able to open any of the my O365 apps.
There are some drawbacks to OpenOffice for Mac of course. Office Apps not working after Mac OSMonterey upgrade. It may not be quite as polished as Microsoft Office but considering you get all this for nothing, you really can't complain.
